Be Disciples, Make Disciples, Make a Difference

Casey Milstead

Casey Milstead joined our church staff part-time in January 2013 as the Assistant Minister of Worship and Evangelism. She is a native of the Tyro area and has been a member of Tyro UMC since the early 1990s when she joined after becoming involved with the Youth. She is currently a Secondary AIG Specialist at Central Davidson High School and has worked with Davidson County Schools for fifteen years as an administrator and English teacher. In 2011, Casey felt God calling her to use her gifts for ministry. She started a new adult Sunday school Class at Tyro and in 2012, she attended District Lay Speaker Training. She serves on the Church Council and has helped to launch Feast 14, a new outreach worship service. She is passionate about serving the “least of these” and about Christian education at all ages. She has a goal to become a licensed local pastor for the United Methodist Church. She and her husband Billy were married at Tyro, and have been happily married for fifteen years. They make their home in Churchland and have two children, Riley, age 12, and Conner, age 10. They joyously find a third “child” in their toy poodle, Lucy. In her spare time, Casey enjoys reading, writing, and traveling. She considers it an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to serve at her home church that has been instrumental in helping her grow in her Christian faith.
