John Hinson

John Hinson holds a BME degree from Greensboro College and an MM degree in Vocal Performance from East Carolina University. Following his graduation from East Carolina, John became Director of Music at Tyro UMC. John teaches private voice lessons, has been on faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has served as a director and clinician for community choirs and schools.

John has received many accolades for his vocal performance and academics and was the winner of the NATS Mid-Atlantic Regional Auditions in the advanced college men category in 2010. He has been afforded opportunities to perform in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Sherrill Milnes, Marcus Haddock, and Anthony Dean Griffey. John has performed leading roles in opera and musical theatre productions and has been a guest soloist in churches across North Carolina.

John grew up in the church with a strong faith in Christ and believes in the importance of music in our everyday walk with God, as well as in communal worship. Through this belief, he has found a strong passion for directing others toward a closer relationship with God through the gift of music.
